Stripe Connect: how guests pay you through Triviyo

Guests pay on your booking page, the money settles in your own Stripe account and Stripe pays it out to your bank. Available on every plan.

Triviyo takes guest payments through Stripe Connect. Guests pay on your booking page or widget, the payment settles in your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays your balance out to your bank account on your Stripe payout schedule. Triviyo never holds your money.

What it does

  • Creates a Stripe Express account for your business, or connects one you start from Triviyo, through Stripe's own onboarding.
  • Charges guests on your booking page and settles each payment in your connected Stripe account.
  • Deducts Triviyo's 2.5% platform fee from each online booking payment at the time of payment. In Settings → Payments you choose whether your business absorbs the fee or the guest pays it on top of the price.
  • Shows guests the payment methods Stripe enables for your country and currency, such as cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • Issues refunds from the booking in Triviyo back to the guest's original payment method. The refunded amount is taken back from your Stripe balance; the platform fee on the original payment is not refunded.

Who it is for

Every operator who wants to take payment when a guest books. Without a connected Stripe account you can still take bookings, but guests cannot pay online.

Set it up

  1. Open Settings → Payments and choose Connect Stripe.
  2. Complete Stripe's onboarding: business details, identity verification and the bank account for payouts.
  3. Return to Triviyo. When Stripe has verified the account, online payments are switched on for your booking page and widget.
  4. Choose who pays the platform fee, then make a test booking to see the full checkout.

Limitations

  • Stripe is the only payment provider for guest payments. PayPal, Adyen or a local terminal provider cannot be connected instead of Stripe.
  • Stripe decides which countries, currencies and payment methods are available for your account, and runs its own verification. Triviyo cannot speed up or override Stripe's review.
  • Payout timing is set by Stripe, not by Triviyo.

Troubleshooting

  • Guests cannot pay online: Stripe has not finished verifying your account. Open Settings → Payments and continue the Stripe onboarding until Stripe shows no outstanding requirements.
  • A payout has not arrived: check the payout schedule and any notices in your Stripe dashboard. Payouts are made by Stripe.
  • The fee shown to guests looks wrong: check whether the fee is set to be paid by the guest or absorbed by your business under Settings → Payments.
