Platform fee (booking fee)
A percentage that booking software takes from each online booking payment, on top of or instead of a monthly subscription. Some vendors add it to the guest's price, others deduct it from the operator's payout.
In Triviyo: Triviyo charges 2.5% of each online booking payment on every plan, including Free. The operator chooses whether to absorb it or let the guest pay it. Enterprise contracts can agree a different rate.
What is the platform fee? · Booking software fee benchmark
Guest-paid booking fee
A booking fee added to the price the guest sees at checkout, so the operator receives the full ticket price. The total the guest pays is higher than the advertised activity price, which some guests notice at the last step.
In Triviyo: Set the platform fee to be paid by the guest under Settings → Payments, and Triviyo shows it as a separate line before payment. The alternative is that your business absorbs it.
OTA connection (channel connection)
A link between booking software and an online travel agency such as Viator, GetYourGuide or Airbnb Experiences, so a listing on the OTA and its bookings are managed from the operator's own system instead of the OTA's extranet.
In Triviyo: Triviyo does not have OTA connections yet. Operators manage their Viator, GetYourGuide or Airbnb Experiences listings in each OTA's own portal and can enter the bookings they receive in Triviyo manually.

OTA commission
The share of the booking value an online travel agency keeps for selling an experience. It is set in the operator's agreement with each OTA and is separate from any fee the booking software charges.
In Triviyo: Triviyo does not set or collect OTA commission, and it does not import OTA bookings yet.
Time slot
A bookable start time for an experience, with its own capacity and, optionally, its own price. Tours and activities are usually sold per time slot; rentals and stays by date range.
In Triviyo: You add time slots to an experience in the calendar. Each slot tracks how many spots are booked and how many are left, and pending unpaid bookings are released when their payment window expires.
Capacity
The maximum number of guests, or units such as kayaks or tents, that can be booked for one time slot or date. Booking software stops selling when capacity is reached.
In Triviyo: Capacity is set per experience and time slot. A slot that is full no longer accepts bookings on your booking page or widget.
Booking widget
An embeddable piece of a booking system that shows availability and checkout inside the operator's own website, so guests do not leave the site to book.
In Triviyo: Add a container element and the Triviyo script to any page. Options control the experience shown, theme, colour and size.
iCal feed
A web address that publishes calendar events in the iCalendar (.ics) format. Calendar apps such as Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar subscribe to it and refresh it on their own schedule.
In Triviyo: Create private, read-only feeds of your bookings under Settings → Calendar, and regenerate the address to revoke access.
QR check-in
Checking guests in by scanning a code from their confirmation on a phone or tablet, so staff can see who has arrived without a printed list.
In Triviyo: Booking confirmation emails carry a check-in QR code that staff scan in the browser-based check-in screen.
Gift card (voucher)
A prepaid value or experience that a buyer purchases for someone else, who redeems it later against a booking.
In Triviyo: Gift cards are sold online and redeemed by the recipient when they book.
Affiliate commission
A share of a booking paid to a partner, such as a hotel, blogger or local shop, that referred the guest through a tracked link or code.
In Triviyo: Partners get their own links, and commissions on the bookings they refer are tracked in the affiliate system.
Webhook
An HTTPS request that one system sends to another the moment something happens, for example when a booking is created, so the receiving system does not need to poll.
In Triviyo: Signed webhooks for booking and payment events are available on the Professional plan and above, and can feed tools such as Zapier or Make.
